The production of L2: Empuraan, a sequel to Malayalam superstar Mohanlal's blockbuster Lucifer, is in full swing. After wrapping up his promotional commitments for Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil, Prithviraj Sukumaran joined the sets and resumed directing.

A video of Prithviraj directing a scene with a lot of extra actors has surfaced online and is going viral. In the video, Prithviraj can be seen giving acting prompts to a mob of actors. "When I say 'background, action,' you should all do as my associates instructed you earlier. I want to see a lot of energy from you guys," Prithviraj can be heard saying on a mic. Actor Manju Warrier also appears to be in the scene.

L2: Empuraan is Prithviraj's third directorial outing. He made his debut as a director with Lucifer in 2019, which went on to become one of the highest-grossing movies in the history of Malayalam cinema. He later directed Mohanlal again in Bro Daddy. The 2022 comedy movie was released directly on streaming and received positive reactions from audiences.

L2: Empuraan is one of the most-awaited movies in Malayalam cinema. The filmmakers have envisioned the Lucifer franchise as a trilogy. Writer-actor Murali Gopy, who wrote Lucifer, has also penned the screenplay for the sequel.

Besides directing the movie, Prithviraj is also playing a key role in the sequel. The film is expected to shed more light on Mohanlal's character Khureshi-Ab'raam, an international gangster who takes on the identity of Stephen Nedumpally in Lucifer to fulfil a promise he made to his father.

The scale of L2: Empuraan is expected to be much larger than Lucifer. The filmmakers plan to shoot in various parts of the world, including the United Kingdom, United States, Mexico, and Russia. The film also stars Tovino Thomas, Indrajith Sukumaran, Sachin Khedekar, Manoj K. Jayan, and Bobby Simha, among others.
