Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil trailer: 'Better than teaser,' say netizens about Prithviraj and Basil Joseph's messy wedding laugh riot

The trailer for Prithviraj Sukumaran and Basil Joseph’s upcoming family entertainer, Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil, has been released by the makers. The new trailer opens with Basil Joseph’s character, named Vinu Ramachandran, an NRI who is seen telling his co-workers and boss that he’s getting married at the Guruvayoor Temple.

The trailer, which just dropped, has been getting positive responses from viewers, who were a little dubious about the teaser that had come out earlier. For the uninitiated, when the teaser of the film was released, some viewers felt that Prithviraj’s comic scenes were not funny, with some even calling them cringeworthy. However, the trailer cut has impressed the audience, who are ready to watch the family entertainer on big screens.

The Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil trailer

Vinu is enthusiastic and, at times, a little overly enthusiastic. And we see him preparing for his wedding. The bride, played by Anaswara Rajan, is then introduced as a chirpy young girl.

However, things take a sudden turn when Vinu backs out of the wedding, which has something to do with the bride’s brother, Anand, played by Prithviraj Sukumaran. Although initially Vinu and Anand seem to share a good rapport, Anand displays some weird mannerisms, which possibly hint that Prithviraj might be playing a negative character in the film.

Nikhila Vimal’s character, who plays Anand’s wife, also seems distant from her husband. However, Anand’s abnormal behaviour is humorous, as he is determined to get his sister married to Vinu. The quirky yet chaotic wedding situation is what Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil is all about.

Directed by Vipin Das, who is best known for his film Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey, the upcoming movie has an ensemble star cast featuring Prithviraj Sukumaran, Basil Joseph, Yogi Babu, Nikhila Vimal, Anaswara Rajan, Jagadish, Baiju Santhosh, Irshad and Rekha, among others. The film is all set to have a grand theatrical release on May 16.
