Composer-actor G.V. Prakash Kumar released a statement on Wednesday expressing his dismay over the unpleasant discussions on social media about his personal life. Recently, he announced that he and his wife, Saindhavi, have mutually decided to legally end their marriage of 11 years, sending shockwaves across the industry.

Prakash's announcement sparked a massive debate, leading to several speculations about the reasons for the separation. This seems to have caused a lot of personal pain to Prakash, prompting him to write an open letter expressing his displeasure and requesting fans and media to respect his privacy during these trying times.

"It's very unfortunate to discuss a person's personal life without the full knowledge. It's not right to encroach upon the personal lives of celebrities and make unsavoury comments about them in public. We no longer seem to realize that giving life to one's imagination about the personal lives of individuals in social media discussions will affect someone's life. Has the honour of Tamil people come down to this extent?" he asked.

"We both mutually decided to part ways. My family, friends, and lawyers are very well aware of the reasons behind this decision. We made this decision only after thorough consideration and discussions," he added.

He revealed that he was aware his personal choice may have left his fans disappointed but also wanted to let them know that their critical comments and discussions have caused him a lot of pain. "Please respect every person's feelings. My heartfelt thanks for your love and support," he said.

On Tuesday, Prakash and Saindhavi released a joint statement announcing their decision to call it quits after 11 years of togetherness.

"Acknowledging that we are growing apart, we believe this is the best decision for each other. Your understanding and support mean a lot during this difficult time," read part of Prakash's statement.
