Harry Styles dazzles in 'Dunkirk': An insider's look at his big screen debut

Singer, songwriter, and heartthrob, Harry Styles, best known for his captivating performances on stage, added another feather to his cap in 2017. With his debut in Christopher Nolan's World War II action drama 'Dunkirk,' he stormed the big screen, earning the film eight Oscar nominations and three wins (Eonline.com).

    Underwater Battles and Nolan's Silence

Styles described the audition process for Nolan as more daunting than for Simon Cowell on ITV's 'This Morning.' His reason? Nolan's infamous silence. "He just sits in the darkness in the back of the room... It's so intense because you do the audition and go home and obsess over whether people liked you or not."

Nolan, however, was refreshingly oblivious to Styles' superstar status, casting him purely for his fit with the part. He candidly told the Associated Press, "I don't think I was that aware really of how famous Harry was. I mean, my daughter had talked about him. My kids talked about him, but I wasn't really that aware of it."

    Stepping into an Epic Adventure

Immersing himself into the grandeur of a big-budget war epic was daunting for Styles. "The first surprising thing was the scale of the production," he disclosed to The Big Issue. "You walk on set the first day and get taken aback by everything."

Styles' dedication to his role was put to the test in an intense underwater scene, which he described to USA Today, "While you're down there filming and acting out the scene, you're also thinking, 'I cannot breathe for much longer than this' which obviously helps the situation."

The result? A riveting performance that caught the attention of critics and audiences worldwide, proving that Styles was more than ready to dive into the deep end of Hollywood.
