If you think Ayan Mukherjee is a 'genius' for attempting Brahmastra, Kangana Ranaut wants to see you in jail

Kangana Ranaut has gone on a rant against Ranbir Kapoor starrer Brahmastra calling the makers 'opportunists' who are exploiting religious sentiments.

If you think Ayan Mukherjee is a 'genius' for attempting Brahmastra, Kangana Ranaut wants to see you in jail

As Brahmastra finally arrives in cinemas after a long wait, actress Kangana Ranaut went on to rant against the film suggesting that it is trying to ride the ‘Hinduism and south wave’. The actress penned long notes on Instagram sharing her thoughts on Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt ’s Brahmastra and claimed that Rs. 600 crores spent on the making of the film have gone down the drain.

The film that has launched an ‘Astraverse’ in Bollywood is inspired from the Hindu mythology and Kangana claims that the makers are trying to exploit religious sentiments by changing the lead character’s name from Jalaluddin Rumi to Shiva. According to the Thalaivii actress the changes in Brahmastra kicked in after the Baahubali wave gripped the nation.

Dissing filmmaker Ayan Mukherjee in a post, Kangana wrote, “Everyone who called @ayanmukerji a genius should be jailed immediately… he took 12 years to make this film, he replaced 14 DOP’s he shot for more than 400 days for this film and changed 85 AD’s and burnt 600 crores to ashes… Also tried to exploit religious sentiments by changing the film name from Jalaluddin Rumi to Shiva last minute, because of ‘Baahubali’ success… Such opportunists, such creativity deprived people, success-starved greedy people if called geniuses then it’s not manipulation but a well thought of a strategy to call din ko raat and raat ko din…"

Ayan Mukherjee had himself confessed in a post that his film, previously titled Dragon, had Ranbir playing a character called Rumi who was later renamed as Shiva. The actor was to initially have long hair in the film but the look was done away with as Rumi became Shiva.

The actress obviously didn’t forget to mention her old nemesis Karan Johar in her rant against Brahmastra and accused him of manipulating numbers and buying reviews.

She added in another post, “People like Karan Johar should be questioned for their conduct, he is more interested in everyone’s sex life than in his films scripts, he self admittedly buys reviews, stars and fake collection numbers and tickets… this time around he tried to ride Hinduism and south wave… all turned Pujaris suddenly and begged south actors, writers and directors to promote their film… they will do everything but not hire competent writer, director, actors and other talent… why not in the first place hire those they went begging to fix this disaster called Brahmastra."

Kangana Ranaut’s stand against Brahmastra, however, has had little effect on the record breaking numbers that the movie has raked in on Day 1. The film has grossed Rs. 46 crores on its opening day alone and will certainly wrap up the week with over Rs. 100 crores in collections at the domestic box office.
