Kareena Kapoor's appeal to not boycott Laal Singh Chaddha backfires; had earlier said, 'Mat jao, no body has forced you'

Kareena Kapoor is getting heavily trolled on social media after appealing to the audience to not boycott her recently released film Laal Singh Chaddha . The movie which is struggling to sell tickets after two days of release has been at the centre of an online boycott trend and the cast including Aamir Khan , Naga Chaitanya, Mona Singh and Kareena have all been asked about it during promotions.

It was during an interview with RJ Sidharth Kannan that Kareena said that those demanding the boycott of Laal Singh Chaddha on social media is only 1% of the people. She further added that boycotting the film will be ‘boycotting good cinema’ and said that the audience should be against watching Laal Singh Chaddha.

“The fact is that they shouldn’t boycott this film, it’s such a beautiful film. And I want people to see me and Aamir (Khan) on screen. It’s been three years, we’ve waited so long. So, please don’t boycott this film, because it’s actually like boycotting good cinema. And people have worked so hard on it; we’ve had 250 people work on this film for two-and-a-half years,” Kareena told the host in the interview.

However, after this statement an old interview of Kareena commenting on nepotism and the targeting of star-kids has gone viral. In conversation with Barkha Dutt, Kareena had said that it is the audience that is interested in star-kids and makes them so famous by watching their films. She further said that if people have a problem with star-kids in Bollywood they shouldn’t watch the movie.

“The audience has made us, no one else has made us. Same people pointing fingers are the ones who have made these nepotistic stars right? Aap jaa re ho na film dekhne? Mat jao. Nobody has forced you. So I don’t understand it. I find this whole discussion is completely weird,” Kareena had said in 2020 in an interview.

Several trolls have now coupled her two quotes and said that Kareena has finally changed her tune now that Laal Singh Chaddha is heading to be a box office disaster.

Laasl Singh Chaddha has managed to collect a little over Rs. 18 crores in two days and that for a film of its scale is bad news. The movie is the official remake of Tom Hanks’ Forrest Gump with Aamir Khan playing the titular role.
