Earlier, it was announced that Malayalam actor Unni Mukundan has begun shooting for the first schedule of his film Marco in Munnar. Now, the makers of the film have announced that they have wrapped up the schedule. They announced this by sharing a menacing poster of a bloodied chain saw. The new poster indicates that the Unni Mukundan-starrer will be as terrifying as described by the makers. “From intense scenes of blood and violence to the serene vibes of nature, First schedule done and dusted at Munnar (sic)”, the caption under the poster read.

Marco welcomes new cast on board

Unni Mukundan took to his social media pages to announce the cast of his upcoming crime thriller. Actors including Siddique, Jagadish, Ajith Koshy, Ishan Shoukath, Abhimanyu Thilakan, Anson Paul, Mathew Varghese, and Durva Thaker will be playing pivotal roles in the film. Interestingly, Malayalam legendary actor Thilakan’s grandson, Abhimanyu Thilakan, and model-turned-actress Durva Thaker will be making their onscreen debuts in this upcoming Unni Mukundan-starrer.

As reported earlier, Unni Mukundan plays a ruthless villain in Marco, which is the spin-off of Nivin Pauly’s film Mikhael. Unni will reprise his role as Marco Jr, a cold-blooded gangster, in the new crime thriller movie. Directed by Haneef Adeni, the upcoming film is also said to be made on a massive scale, making it the highest-budget film in Unni Mukundan's career.

    Is Marco another Rolex?

From the earlier shared posters and glimpses, it is clear that the makers of the film are aiming to create a menacing and ruthless villain, reminiscent of what cinephiles saw in Vikram with Suriya’s character, Rolex. Like Suriya’s character, Marco is also a violent man who is set on taking revenge for his brother’s murder. Going by the posters and looks, one can notice many similarities between the two characters. However, unlike Rolex, Marco is described as an "unapologetically honest and brutal" villain by Unni Mukundan. The actor also promised that Marco will be different from the villains we have seen before.

For the uninitiated, Mikhael revolved around Nivin’s character, who tries to save his sister from a revenge attack. The ruthless villain, Marco Jr (played by Unni), seeks vengeance for his brother’s death.

Earlier, the makers had unveiled the first-look poster, which featured Unni in a violin look, smoking a cigarette and sitting in a throne-like chair. The monochromatic poster was shared along with a terrific background score composed by KGF's composer Ravi Basrur. Incidentally, Marco is the first Indian film to have a villain make a comeback as a hero in a spin-off.
