Meiyazhagan first look: Karthi, Arvind Swamy unite for heartwarming tale

Actor Karthi unveiled the title of his next movie along with the first look poster. The film has been titled Meiyazhagan and also stars Arvind Swamy in the lead role. "#Meiyazhagan = Meiy + Azhagan. Beauty is always what’s in our hearts," captioned Karthi, while sharing the first-look poster.

The poster features a joyous Karthi sitting on the carrier of a bicycle with Arvind Swamy riding it. The film seems to tackle the age-old question: where does beauty lie—inward or outward?

Arvind Swamy is known for his good looks and fair complexion. His character seems to contrast with Karthi's, who is dark-skinned but seemingly has the heart of a child.

Meiyazhagan is written and directed by C. Prem Kumar. The cinematographer-turned-filmmaker made his directorial debut in 2018 with 96. The romantic drama, starring Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha in the lead roles, emerged as both a critical and commercial hit.

Based on the first look poster, it seems Prem is set to tell a different love story. It's safe to assume that it's likely to be set against a rural backdrop and will revolve around two close friends.

Meiyazhagan is bankrolled by Tamil superstar Suriya and his wife Jyothika. "One from our hearts..!" captioned Suriya, while sharing the first-look poster.

On the career front, Karthi was last seen in Japan. The movie was released in 2023 to poor reviews and subsequently tanked at the box office. The film ended Karthi's winning streak, which was powered by the back-to-back hits of Ponniyin Selvan 1 and 2, Viruman, and Sardar. He is also shooting for Vaa Vaathiyaare, which is written and directed by Nalan Kumarasamy.

Karthi's long-delayed film Kaithi 2 is also in the pipeline. Director Lokesh Kanagaraj will start production soon after he completes Coolie with Superstar Rajinikanth.
