Hollywood royalty Mila Kunis is one of the most bankable actresses today but the road to this mammoth success was not easy. Recently Mila spoke extensively about being an immigrant from Ukraine when she was just 7 and how life was full of hardships for her and her parents when they migrated to the US after the fall of the Soviet Union. The actress recalled being depressed as a child about the same and the many sacrifices made by her family to have a bright future.

In an interaction with People Magazine, the Black Swan actress said, “It was right at the fall [of the Soviet Union],...It was very communist, and my parents wanted my brother and me to have a future, so they just dropped everything. They came with $250." Mila Kunis furthermore revealed how she has no recollection of that time since she used to cry every day. Mila added, “I have no recollection of it. I always talk to my mom and my grandma about it. It was because I cried every day. I didn’t understand the culture. I didn’t understand the people. I didn’t understand the language."

However, the family soon saw better days, thanks to Mila Kunis’ talent for acting. Her parents enrolled her in an acting school when she was 9 years of age and it worked favorably for them as she landed her first commercial quite early. The Friends With Benefits actress further said that her parents used to lie to her about moving from one place to another to let her escape the trauma. Mila said, “My parents took it upon themselves to lie to me and tell me we were moving up the street ... and then one day we weren't moving up the street, we were on a train and then we got to Moscow, and then we got on a plane and all of that was very new to me...A train was new, the plane was new. I had Coca-Cola for the first time. The entire experience was very new."

Mila Kunis further recalled that her parents spent $890 on her acting classes when they just had $900 in the bank. She and her husband Ashton Kutcher later did a surprise condo makeover for her parents in one of the episodes of the show Houzz. She called it her way of giving it back to her parents who sacrificed so much for her and her brother Michael Kunis so that they could have a bright future.
