Salaar: Megastar Chiranjeevi congratulates Prabhas over film's tremendous box office response, hails Prashanth Neel

Salaar featuring Prabhas has performed extraordinarily well at the box office despite mixed reviews. While some called it an impressive comeback of ‘rebel star’ Prabhas in a larger-than-life actioner, others were disappointed. However, megastar Chiranjeevi has shared an appreciation post for Salaar lauding the cast and crew of the film.

Taking to Twitter, the Waltair Veerayya actor wrote, “Heartiest Congratulations my dear ‘Deva’ #RebelStar #Prabhas." Further, he appreciated cinematographer Bhuvan Gowda, music composer Ravi Basrur and stunt choreographer duo Anbariv. “And The fantastic crew of @bhuvangowda84 @RaviBasrur @vchalapathi_art @anbariv Producer @VKiragandur and the entire team of @SalaarTheSaga & @hombalefilms on this stupendous success!”

Helmed by KGF director Prashanth Neel, Salaar centers around two childhood friends who got themselves in a web of power struggles and revenge. Backed by Hombale Films, the film is high on action and drama. Upon release on December 22,2023, the film minted a whopping Rs 95 crore in India, in which Telugu language contributed a staggering Rs 70 crore. At the global box office, the film has reportedly amassed Rs 175 crore, becoming the biggest opener of this year by overtaking Jawan(Rs 75 crore) in India.

The DesiMartini review of Salaar reads, “Given the genre, Salaar significantly masters the action department with never-seen-before swag and cinematography but fails on the editing table. The Prashanth Neel directorial has a mass appeal but for those who have the patience to grasp each character entering the lengthy and extra-stretched second half. Prabhas, ‘the rebel star’ makes for several heroic sequences throughout the movie, only to add a layer of suspense and thrill which mostly falls flat. The movie will remind you of the American fantasy drama series Game Of Thrones at times for its storyline, but it has its original element too, credit goes to the exemplary screenplay by Prashanth and effective BGM by Ravi Basrur.
