Shamshera director Karan on Ranbir Kapoor & Alia Bhatt’s pregnancy: ‘We should celebrate that rather than speculating’

Earlier this week, Alia Bhatt gave her fans an unexpected but pleasant surprise. She took to her official social media handle to announce that she and husband Ranbir Kapoor are expecting their first child. Their friends from the industry as well as their followers were over the moon with joy for the happy couple. But there were a few netizens who wondered if this was a promotional stunt for their upcoming film Brahmastra , which will release in September this year.

There were also some who claimed that the decision to make the announcement a few days after the trailer launch of Ranbir’s comeback film Shamshera was a ‘planned move’. Well, in a recent interview with Bollywood Hungama , Shamshera director Karan Malhotra was asked about the same. To this, he replied, “I don’t think so. Both are on different tangents. One development is in a personal space and the other is in a professional one. All we can do is congratulate them.”

He went on to add, “Ranbir and Alia Bhatt are going to enter the best phase of their lives with a baby coming into the world. It’s one of the most special things that a couple can experience. We should celebrate that rather than speculating.” After dating for 5 long years, the happy couple tied the nuptial knot in April this year on the balcony of Ranbir’s Bandra apartment. It was an intimate event attended by family and close friends. Currently, Ranbir is busy promoting Shamshera whereas Alia is shooting for her Hollywood debut film Heart Of Stone in London.
