Shilpa Shetty reveals her son’s reaction after watching Nikamma; says ‘Hungama 2 wasn’t supposed to be my comeback’

After her 2007 family drama Apne , Shilpa Shetty took a break from films but continued to win hearts as she judged several reality shows such as Nach Baliye, Super Dancer and Zara Nachke Dikha. Well, after 14 long years she returned to our screens with Priyadarshan’s Hungama 2, which took the OTT route and sadly failed to impress audiences. Fans are now eagerly waiting for Shilpa’s comeback to the silver screen with her release, Nikamma , co-starring Abhimanyu Dassani and Shirley Setia.

In a recent chat with Mid Day, Shilpa expressed her excitement for the same. She was quoted saying, “It’s a comeback of sorts because I haven’t graced the big screen in 14 years. Doing a massy entertainer is a high point for me.” What about Hungama 2? The actress shared, “That wasn’t supposed to be my [comeback] film, but I couldn’t say no because it was offered to me by the makers [Ratan Jain] who had [launched] me in Hindi movies. Plus, I always wanted to work with Priyan sir [Priyadarshan]. For me, the only takeaway was Chura ke dil mera. There was a lot that was narrated, but didn’t make it to the screen.”

The beauty went on to add that she feels fans were let down when they saw her in a minuscule role in the romantic comedy. Well, the actress is now focusing on impressing her children! That’s right. And so far she’s doing a great job because her son Viaan Raj Kundra had a super sweet reaction to her next film. Shilpa revealed, “After watching Nikamma, my son called me his favourite actor. That was a big compliment for me.”

Directed by Sabbir Khan, Nikamma is all set to release in theatres on 17th June.
