Singham Again: Deepika Padukone to essay Ajay Devgn's sister? Actress to be seen as a badass cop

Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again is inevitably one of the most awaited films on the block when it comes to his slick cop universe. Now, we have an exciting update regarding the Ajay Devgn starrer which will make one even more pumped up about the movie. According to the latest development, Deepika Padukone will be essaying the role of Ajay’s sister in the movie.

Deepika Padukone is reportedly excited to be part of the project and has started prepping for the same. A source close to the development told Bollywood Hungama, “Deepika Padukone is all excited for Rohit Shetty's Singham Again. She will be playing the first female cop of the Rohit Shetty Universe and has already started prep work for this action-packed part. Deepika's character is more along the lines of a Lady Singham and has the arc of being Ajay Devgn's sister in the film.”

The source further went on to add that the idea behind having a badass female cop from Bajirao Singham’s family is that Rohit Shetty wanted to establish Singham and the people around him to be fiercely patriotic and ever willing to serve the country. The source was furthermore quoted, “It's a well-written role and more than just a cameo. It's more like a proper extended appearance for Deepika in Singham and she will be shooting for around 35 to 40 days.”

Apart from Deepika Padukone, Singham Again will also be starring Tiger Shroff in a cameo appearance. His entry in the movie will pave the way for his entry into Rohit Shetty’s cop universe. The movie will reportedly go on floors in September this year and will be released next year in August. Earlier, it was also speculated that Vicky Kaushal had joined the star cast of the movie but the actor had to opt out due to his other professional commitments. Interestingly, Deepika’s husband Ranveer Singh is also an integral part of the cop universe with his movie Simmba.
