    Star Wars spinoff series Ahsoka officially starts production and Lucasfilm shares the first BTS picture

    Star Wars spinoff series Ahsoka starring Rosario Dawson has finally gone on floors. Ever since the character made her live-action debut in the Mandolorian, Star Wars fans have been eagerly waiting for more news about the spinoff series and finally, Lucasfilms has confirmed that the show has officially started filming by sharing the first BTS picture from the show.

    The series will focus on Ahsoka Tano played by Rosario Dawson, the former Jedi apprentice of Anakin Skywalker during the Clone Wars.

    She was expelled from the Jedi order after she was framed for the destruction of a Jedi Temple, this is also one of the reasons for Anakin Skywalker's eventually turning to the Dark Side of the Force. 

    While plot details of the show still remain under wraps, it is speculated that the show will pick up from the events of the animated series Star Wars Rebels and will focus on Ahsoka trying to rescue the young Jedi apprentice Ezra Bridger who went missing after the events of the show.

    The show will also feature Anakin Skywalker aka Darth Vader after actor Hayden Christensen confirmed his casting in October .

    Actress Natasha Liu Bordizzo has been cast as Sabine Wren a young Mandalorian warrior another character from the show Star Wars: Rebels and there are rumors that Aladdin star Mena Massoud will be playing the role of role Ezra Bridger.

    The series was developed by Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni and is currently filing in in Los Angeles, under the working title Stormcrow.

    The cast of the show includes Rosario Dawson, Hayden Christensen, Natasha Liu Bordizzo, Ivanna Sakhno, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, and Ray Stevenson

    Ahsoka doesn't have an official release date but we can expect the show to stream on Disney + sometime in 2023.
