'Suriya's Kanguva is set for...," producer Dhananjayan reveals release plans

When will Kanguva be released? This is the repeated question that the producers of the movie face whenever they meet the media. Starring Tamil superstar Suriya in the lead role, Kanguva is one of the most-awaited movies of 2024. The producers seem to be in the process of zeroing in on the perfect release date to capitalize on the pre-release hype.

Producer Dhananjayan, who is also the CEO of Studio Green, hinted at the release plans for the movie. He revealed that producer K. E. Gnanavel Raja aims to release the film in cinemas worldwide during the Deepavali holiday.

"This film has generated huge hype across the world. It has also created a lot of interest in North India. We are planning a big launch in North India as the film features Bobby Deol and Disha Patani. Gnanavel Raja is looking for the right time to give it a big release," said Dhananjayan.

He also revealed that the entire post-production will be finished by the end of August, allowing the producers to plan the release in September or October. Until then, the filmmakers have decided to hold back on promotions, including the release of trailers and songs. In India alone, Kanguva will be released in 10 languages. On streaming platforms, the film will be made available in about 30 languages.

Kanguva is the most expensive film in Suriya's career. The film captured the imagination of audiences soon after the filmmakers unveiled the motion poster. Written and directed by Siva, the film is set against the backdrop of a medieval world.

Writer-director Siva is known for making out-and-out commercial movies. The genre, scale, and style of Kanguva represent completely uncharted territory for him.
