    Actress Vidya Balan made her Bollywood debut with Parineeta, which was directed by the late filmmaker Pradeep Sarkar. As the film clocked 18 years on Saturday(June 10, 2023), the actress took a stroll down memory lane and cherished behind-the-scenes pictures from the 2005 film. She also penned an emotional note for the late filmmaker in which she expressed gratitude for believing in her.

    Taking to her Instagram handle, the Kahaani actress posted a video clip which consisted of BTS moments from the movie. It started with a black and white picture of Pradeep and Vidya posing together for the camera. Then followed photos of Vidya, Raima Sen, Saif Ali Khan and others with a song Piyu Bole playing in the background. “Until I can say it to you in person again, Thank you Dada for Parineeta and for believing in me even when I didn’t. 18 years to Parineeta today ❣️,” she captioned the post.     Parineeta is an adaptation of Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay's 1914 Bengali novel of the same name. The film marks the first directorial venture of Pradeep and the first Hindi film of Vidya. The film also has Saif Ali Khan, Sanjay Dutt, Raima Sen, Sabyasachi Chakrabarty and Dia Mirza in pivotal roles. The film proved to be a commercial success at the box office upon release, grossing more than Rs 30 crore worldwide. Backed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, the film won Best Debut Film of a Director at the 53rd National Film Award.

    Talking about Pradeep Sarkar, the ace filmmaker passed away in March at the age of 67. The filmmaker was undergoing dialysis and suffering from several other health issues. As per reports, he was planning to make a film on the subject of the generational gap. Coming back to Vidya, the actress was last seen in Suresh Triveni’s thriller drama Jalsa alongside Shefali Shah. She will next feature in Anu Menon’s Neeyat alongside Ram Kapoor, Shahana Goswami, Amrita Puri, Prajakta Koli and Rahul Bose.
