When will Kamal Haasan-Simbu's Thug Life be released in cinemas?

Filmmaker Mani Ratnam is busy shooting his upcoming movie "Thug Life," which stars some of the biggest superstars of Tamil cinema. The production is progressing at full speed, aiming for a wide release this year.

Many believed that "Thug Life" wouldn't hit the big screen until next year. However, the filmmakers surprised everyone by announcing their intention to release it this year.

Speculations are rife that Mani Ratnam has split the film into two parts. The first part will arrive in cinemas this year, while the second part will hit the screens in 2025. An official confirmation on this is awaited.

The buzz is that "Thug Life" is aiming for a festival release and is likely to hit theatres in November or December.

In the meantime, Mani Ratnam seems to be shooting the film at breakneck speed. He recently completed a massive schedule in Delhi and Jaisalmer. Photos of Kamal Haasan shooting in a rugged look surfaced online, sending a wave of excitement among fans. Kamal's bearded look for "Thug Life" has reminded many of his iconic character Sathya. Tamil star Simbu and actress Abhirami were also seen shooting for "Thug Life" along with Kamal in Delhi.

Simbu is the latest to join the cast of "Thug Life." He seems to be essaying a role that was earlier intended for Malayalam star Dulquer Salmaan. Dulquer and Jayam Ravi were among the original cast for the movie. However, the duo dropped out of the project due to scheduling issues.

The filmmakers released a teaser revealing Simbu's character in "Thug Life." He is playing the role of a cop manning the borders.

"Thug Life" is believed to be set against a post-apocalyptic backdrop. However, an official confirmation on this is awaited. The film marks reunion of Kamal and Mani Ratnam after a gap of 36 years. Hence there is a lot of excitement surrounding the movie.
