'Why don't you produce films by casting them': Vivek Agnihotri receives backlash over his reaction to Karan Johar's old video

The Kashmir Files director Vivek Agnihotri recently reacted to an old video of Karan Johar and Anushka Sharma on Twitter. In the short clip, Karan could be seen confessing about how he almost tried to sabotage actress Anushka Sharma's career in her initial years in the film industry. He has suggested Aditya Chopra not cast Anushka in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi opposite Shah Rukh Khan. Anushka, who was seen sitting beside him, laughed at it. However, Vivek got furious over his confession and said that it is because of some people’s ‘backroom politics’ that Bollywood is in a ‘gutter.’

His tweet read, “Someone’s only hobby is to make or break careers. If Bollywood is in gutter, it’s because of some people’s dirty ‘backroom’ politics against talented outsiders.” While a few Twitterati agreed, some of them took a sly dig at him asking him why he doesn’t he do something about it. A user wrote, “Bhai aap produce kar do un sabko .....” Another commented, “Then why don't U produce films by casting them, Itne saal porn films banaaye, cheap and Vulgar, Me too accused log ab Gyaan dete rahenge..” One of the comments read, “Your remarks Vivek shows your own mindset and pathetic condition you are in…” “Vivek ji cannot understand your nature.. sometimes attending their functions sometimes blaming them it's more like being opportunist,” pointed another user. Besides this, Vivek also recently slammed a Twitter user who called Indian paparazzi disgraceful for calling Hollywood actors Zendaya, Tom Holland and Gigi Hadid with hilarious names at The Ambani’s event. “Paparazzi is the same everywhere. Even they can’t pronounce names of people from different origin. And nothing wrong in being what we are,” the filmmaker tweeted. For the unversed, paps called Zendya-Jhendaya, Tom Holland-Makad Man etc at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre’s inaugural event.

Meanwhile, Vivek is currently working on his his upcoming directorial, The Vaccine War , which is set to August 15 release this year.
