After 16 years of waiting Mammootty's 'Big B' sequel 'Bilal' will finally go on floors this year

    2007s 'Big B' was a massive success and re-established Mammootty as an action hero, and ever since its release, there have been rumors about a sequel.

    However, it was in 2017 that director Amal Neerad officially confirmed that they were planning on making a sequel and that it will be titled ' Bilal '.

    Since then, the movie has been stuck in development hell and delayed multiple times but now finally the wait is officially over.

    During the promotion for his upcoming movie ' Christopher ', Mammootty confirmed that Bilal will go on floors soon and that an official announcement will be made soon.

    Big B was director Amla Neerad's directorial debut and his first collaboration with Mammootty, the movie was based on the 2004 Hollywood movie 'Four Brothers'.

    In the movie, Mammootty plays Bilal, who returns to his hometown to find out the truth about his foster mother's untimely death.

    In 2022, Amala Neerad and Mammootty collaborated for a second time for the gangster flick Bheeshma Parvam, the movie was a critical and commercial success and went on to become one of the highest-grossing movies of last year.

    Meanwhile, Mammootty is gearing up for the release of his action movie Christopher, which will be hitting theaters this week.

    In the movie, he will be playing the role of SP Christopher IPS, a veteran police officer who doesn't play by the rules. Christopher is charged with solving a series of violent crimes in Kerala that may have a link to one of his past cases.

    The movie is directed by B. Unnikrishnan marking the first time Mammootty has worked with the director. The script for the movie is written by the director's long-time collaborator Udaykrishna.

    The cast of the movie includes Vinay Rai, Amala Paul, Sarath Kumar, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Shine Tom Chacko, and Sneha.

    Christopher will hit theaters on February 9th.
