After rejecting Karan Johar’s Bollywood film, Vijay Deverakonda approached him for Liger

Actor Vijay Deverakonda , who is currently the national heartthrob, began his journey in the Telugu film industry in 2011. But it was six years later with Arjun Reddy that he established himself as a versatile and impactful performer. He aced the character of the short-tempered alcoholic surgeon and won several awards. Vijay’s performance also impressed filmmaker Karan Johar , who then approached him for a Bollywood film. However, the actor revealed that he had turned down the offer as he wasn’t ready.

Well, 5 years later, Vijay is now busy gearing up for the release of his pan Indian film Liger, which is being co-produced by KJo’s Dharma Productions. The sports drama marks his Bollywood debut. But did you know it was Vijay who approached Karan with Liger? In a chat with Peeping Moon, when he was asked if he wondered why KJo picked him for the movie, Vijay revealed, “Oh actually, it went the other way round. I picked the film and took it to Karan (Johar) to make it. I picked the film and then took it to him to present and produce it in Hindi.”

Also starring Baahubali star Ramya Krishna and Ananya Panday, in her first ever South film, Liger has been written and directed by Puri Jagannadh. The film follows the story of an MMA fighter, played by Vijay, who stammers. Currently the lead stars are busy on a hectic promotional spree across the country ahead of Liger’s release on 25th August. Well, fans are eagerly waiting to see Vijay shine in his first Hindi film. But another reason why many are excited for this project is Ananya and Vijay’s sizzling chemistry. Reports suggest that they fell for each other while promoting Liger, and now we are all waiting to see if the attraction reflects on screen as well.
