    Animal song Papa Meri Jaan

The makers of Animal gave us a glimpse of Ranbir Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna’s electric chemistry in the first track titled Hua Main. In Satranga, the second song from Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s film, we got a sneak peek at their strained relationship post marriage. But as we know, the soul of this much awaited action thriller is the troubled relationship between Ranbir and his on-screen father Balbir Singh, played by Anil Kapoor. Well, in the latest track from Animal, we finally see the unconditional love that Ranbir has for his dad.

The video begins with a young Ranbir running home to meet his father, but like always he is away for work. His mother tells Anil aka Balbir that his son wants to be named after him. In the background we hear a peaceful whistling sound and thus begins the track Papa Meri Jaan, a love letter written by a son to his father. Many years pass and the scene shifts to Ranbir walking towards Anil’s office cabin holding Rashmika’s hand in his, probably to introduce her. There are flashbacks along the way but the highlight is the intensity with which Ranbir looks up at Anil. They genuinely bring the characters alive and seem like actual father and son.

Towards the end of the video, an intoxicated Ranbir flies a plane with a deadly look on his face while his crew watches him from behind. Raj Shekhar’s lyrics are soulful whereas Sonu Nigam’s voice is like that of an angel’s, leaving a deep impact which lasts longer than the song itself. But it is Anil and Ranbir’s chemistry as father and son that truly tugs at our heartstrings. Papa Meri Jaan has definitely left us even more intrigued to watch Animal when it arrives in theatres on 1st December.
