Bollywood actor Arshad Warsi ’s latest Bachchhan Paandey failed to make a mark at the box office. The Farhad Samji directorial starring Akshay Kumar and Kriti Sanon has opened to mixed reviews and managed to earn only Rs 37.25 crore on its first weekend.

In Bachchhan Paandey, a remake of the film Jigarthanda, Warsi played the role of Vishu, an assistant to Kriti Sanon’s character. The film was released on March 18 and was overshadowed by Vivek Agnihotri ’s The Kashmir Files despite being a big-budget movie.

In a recent media interaction, when a journalist called the film a success, Warsi asked him not to lie. As reported by Indian Express, the actor said, “Don’t lie, it is not a success. It was a good film, but unfortunately, it happened, some things work, some things don’t. I feel it just went through a bad patch, there were various things that made it not as successful as it should have been. It is a big film, it should’ve made a lot more money, but it is still not a loss, it covered its money.”

On being asked if the film suffered because of not being released on the OTT platform, Warsi clarified, “No, I don’t think it is the OTT effect. Okay, I’ve got an answer for that, but I’m not going to say it. Let’s not get into it, it is a different space.”

Meanwhile, Warsi will next be seen in Asur 2, the second season of the crime thriller Asur. The popular show is about a vicious serial killer and a CBI team led by a forensic officer. The popular series is headlined by Warsi along with Barun Sobti. Talking about it, the actor said, “I find Asur 2 more exciting and thrilling than Asur 1. When people liked season 1, 2 they’ll love, which means 3 might also happen.” The web show is expected to be out by June or July.
