Gadar 2 Vs OMG 2 box office: Sunny Deol starrer enters Rs 300 crore club but Akshay Kumar's film holds a steady pace
Sunny Deol's Gadar 2 continues to rage a storm at the box office on its 8th day but the Akshay Kumar starrer OMG 2 remain unfazed.
It is truly a golden time for Bollywood again with both the latest releases namely Gadar 2 and OMG 2 booming at the box office. While Sunny Deol’s film is raging a thunderstorm and has entered the Rs 300 crore mark, the Akshay Kumar starrer is also maintaining a steady pace. Despite locking horns with a blockbuster, the movie is emerging as a solid hit.
According to a news report in Sacnilk, Gadar 2 earned Rs 20 crore at the box office on its 8th day which was the second Friday of its release. With this, the total collection of the movie stands at Rs 304.13 crore. The Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel starrer minted a whopping Rs 284.63 crore on its first weekend. In the recently held press conference celebrating the success of the movie, an overwhelmed Sunny Deol said, “I was quite stressed before the release of the movie. When the movie was released, I cried and laughed the entire night. My father was around and he saw me. I told him, 'I have not had alcohol. Main khush aa main ki kara (I am happy, what can I do)'."
However, Akshay Kumar and Pankaj Tripathi’s OMG 2 has also been holding a steady pace. According to a news report in Sacnilk, the film has minted Rs 5.6 crore on its 8th day. The total collection now stands at Rs 90.65 crore. The movie is expected to cross the Rs 100 crore mark soon. OMG 2 managed to earn Rs 85.05 crore at the box office on its first weekend. It seems that the hard-hitting subject and the performances are resulting in positive word of mouth for the film.
OMG 2 has been directed by Amit Rai and is based on the importance of sex education in Indian educational institutions. While Gadar 2 takes away from the conclusion of the first film wherein Tara Singh has to embark on another dangerous mission to Pakistan. Both movies were released on August 11, 2023.
