Yesterday (October 20) a clash between Tiger Shroff’s futuristic actioner Ganapath and the Divya Khosla Kumar starrer romantic-comedy Yaariyan 2 took place in the theatres. Now, the verdict is finally out on the opening day collections of both movies. Sadly, both the films have witnessed an utterly poor opening collection with Ganapath racing slightly ahead.

Talking about Ganapath, according to a news report in Sacnilk, the movie has garnered Rs 2.50 crore on its first day. The movie which has been directed by Vikas Bahl and also stars Kriti Sanon in the lead role has also received negative reviews from critics. It looks like the movie will have a hard time redeeming itself in the coming days owing to the audience and the critics giving it a huge thumbs down.

On the other hand, Divya Khosla Kumar’s Yaariyan 2 saw an even more dismal opening. According to a news report in Sacnilk, the movie has only managed to earn Rs 0.60 crore on its first day. The film which also stars Meezan Jaffrey and Pearl V Puri has received a mixed review from the critics. The movie is nowhere close to its first part when it comes to the opening collection. The 2014 film opened to Rs 5.48 crore which was a far more decent collection than its second part.

It was earlier reported that Ganapath is likely to earn more than Yaariyan 2 on its first day which turned out to be true. As per industry tracker Sacnilk, Tiger’s film was predicted to have an average opening weekend at the box office. The first-day advance booking reports suggested a slow start. The total number of tickets that were sold on the first day was 20,196. The advance booking of Yaariyan 2, suggested the film will fail at the box office on the first day itself. According to media estimates, barely 800 tickets for the film were sold thus far implying that the film will only make Rs 2 to 3 crores on its opening day. However, it earned even less than that.
