Garudan trailer - A fiercely loyal Soori protects Unni Mukundan and Sasikumar

The official trailer for Soori's Garudan is here. The makers of the film took to their social media handles to share the new trailer for the film, which stars Soori, Unni Mukundan, and Sasikumar in lead roles. The trailer and audio for the film were officially launched at an event in Chennai today (May 21), which was also attended by actors Vijay Sethupathi and Sivakarthikeyan.

The trailer for Garudan begins with the introduction of Unni Mukundan and Sasikumar's characters, who are childhood friends whose bond has strengthened over the years. Soori's character is then introduced as Mukundan's loyal right-hand man who is willing to go to any extent to protect him. However, tensions arise when Soori is accused of something unknown, leading to chaos. Now, it's up to Soori to resolve the brewing conflict. The story revolves around how he helps the friends combat their enemies and resolve their issues. 

Written and directed by R.S. Durai Senthilkumar, the film is packed with high-octane action, with Soori's performance being intense. While Sasikumar and Unni Mukundan's characters are portrayed as 'powerful men,' it's Soori's enigmatic portrayal of an honest yet fearless man that grabs attention. The actor, who has often played stereotypical hero's friend roles in the past, is now set to captivate audiences with a gripping lead role in this action thriller.

Soori expresses his gratitude at the trailer launch

At today's trailer launch, leading man Soori expressed his gratitude to director Vetrimaaran for giving him his first lead role in the 2023 blockbuster film Viduthalai. “I owe a lot to Vetrimaaran sir. He is the reason behind all the claps, whistles, and appreciations showered upon me. My career and life will now be divided into before and after Viduthalai,” the actor said. Marking the director-actor duo's second collaboration, Garudan is backed by Vetrimaaran’s home banner, Grassroot Film Company.

Garudan also stars Sshivada, Revathi Sharma, Roshini Haripriyan, Samuthirakani, Motta Rajendran, and Mime Gopi in key roles. On the technical front, the film's music is composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja, with Arthur A. Wilson handling cinematography and Pradeep E. Ragav handling the edits. G. Durairaj is the film's art director.

Garudan is slated to have a worldwide theatrical release on May 31.
