Godzilla Vs. Kong 2 plot details and full cast announced by Legendary Pictures

The untitled sequel to the 2021s surprise hit is currently in production in Australia, the movie will have Dan Stevens in the lead and Adam Wingard returning to direct.

The studio had revealed the full cast of the movie which includes Fala Chen of Shang-Chi fame, Alex Ferns (Chernobyl), and Rachel House (Hunt for the Wilderpeople).

Joining them are returning cast members Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry, and Kaylee Hottle. many members from the previous cast are missing most notably Mille Bobby Brown and Alexander Skarsgård.

The studio also released an official plot synopsis for the movie via Bussines Wire

"This latest entry follows up the explosive showdown of Godzilla vs. Kong with an all-new cinematic adventure, pitting the almighty Kong and the fearsome Godzilla against a colossal undiscovered threat hidden within our world, challenging their very existence – and our own. The epic new film will delve further into the histories of these Titans, their origins and the mysteries of Skull Island and beyond, while uncovering the mythic battle that helped forge these extraordinary beings and tied them to humankind forever."

This does disprove the early theory that the movie will adopt the Son of Kong plotline and while that while be disappointing to fans at least we will get to see Kong and Godzilla take on more Titans.

In a recent interview director Adam Wingard did mention that his favorite monsters from the franchise were Destroyah and Hedorah, so there is a strong possibility of them showing up in the movie.

Ben Seresin returns as the cinematographer along with composer Tom Holkenborg, the movie is written by Terry Rossio who is known for his work in the pirates of the Caribbean franchise and the 2001s animated movie Shrek.

Principal photography for the movie commenced in Gold Coast, Queensland on July 29, 2022.

Godzilla vs. Kong 2 will hit theaters on March 15, 2024.
