In a Hail Mary pass Kantara sent for Academy Award consideration by Hombale productions

The Producers are hopeful that the movie will make it into the final list of Best Picture nominees.

Head of Hombale Productions announced that Rishab Shetty's supernatural thriller has been sent to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for an Oscar consideration at the 2023 Oscars.

The Academy Awards recently announced the shortlist of nominees for ten categories including Best International Feature and SS Rajamouli's RRR did not make the cut.

So the fact Kantara has been submitted so late in the game makes little sense, While RRR still has a chance of making it into any one of the reaming categories, especially Best Picture.

The case with Kantara is not the same as there isn't a lot of hype surrounding the movie in the international market, especially in America.

The eligibility period for submissions to The Academy ends on the 31st of December with the first round of voting to start on January 12th.

The final list of nominees will be announced on February 13th and the winners will be announced on the day of the Award ceremony held at Dolby Theatre Hollywood, Los Angeles on March 12th.

Kantara was a dark horse in the 2022 Boxoffice, that came out of nowhere and ended up becoming one of the most crucial and commercially sucessfull movies of the year.

Perhaps the movie can do the same at this year's Academy Awards and ends up getting a nomination. Meanwhile, Hombale Productions has announced that they plan to make Kanatara into a franchise.

There are rumors that the next installment in the franchise might actually be a prequel to Kanatara instead of a sequel.

The movie has received praise from actors from across the country including Kamal Hassan, Rajinikanth, Hrithik Roshan, Prithviraj, and more.

The cast of the movie includes Rishab Shetty, Kishore, Achyuth Kumar, Sapthami Gowda, Swaraj Shetty, Pramod Shetty, and Manasi Sudhir.

Kantara is currently streaming on Netflix and Amazon Prime Video.
