    Megastar Amitabh Bachchan and late Irfan Khan’s son Babil are set to share screen space in Shoojit Sircar ’s The Umesh Chronicles. As per reports, the legendary actor will be seen in an extended cameo role, while Babil will essay the role of servant boy in the film.

    As per reports from Peepingmoon.com, the ace filmmaker has signed Amitabh Bachchan and Babil I. Khan for his next production venture which will be directed by Sweden-based filmmaker, Pooja Kaul. The film has reportedly already gone to floors across Lucknow over a 20-day schedule.

    "The film presents two ‘Indias’ living next to each other, but still communicates the special Indian code of somehow managing the grace of living side by side. It’s the story of the soul of a nation and the making of a woman," reported the news portal citing a source close to the project.

    The upcoming film will mark Big B’s fourth collaboration with Sircar after Gulabo Sitabo, Piku, and the unreleased Shoebite. On the other hand, Babil for the first time will be collaborating with the filmmaker. The film will also be the directorial debut of Pooja Kaul, who has previously helmed award-winning short films like Winter Trail, Rasikan Re, and Sundar Sari.

    The film will be jointly produced by Sircar and his business partner Ronnie Lahiri in association with an international production company. The makers have plans to premiere it at multiple international film festivals worldwide before screening in India.

    Talking about Babil, the actor is set to make his acting debut with the Netflix India Original, Qala this year. It is a supernatural thriller film that is said to be a hauntingly beautiful tale about a daughter who yearns for her mother’s love. The film also stars Tripti Dimri and Swastika Mukherjee in pivotal roles.

    On the other hand, Amitabh was last seen in Jhund , directed by Nagraj Manjule. He will next be seen in Runway 34 alongside Ajay Devgn . His lined up projects include Intern, Brahmastra , among others.
