    In a recent interview, Rishab Shetty said that he did not feel Kantara is a small-budget movie and that it was one of the biggest budgets he has worked with.

    Kanata has become one of the biggest surprise hits of the year having gained critical and commercial success throughout the country. one very common praise the movie receives is that despite its low budget it has done so well.

    While this is true when you compare the movie's budget of sixteen crores to a big Bollywood movie, it is a massive budget when you compare it to the average budget of Kannada, Malayalam, and Tamil movies. 

    In a recent interview with Track Tollywood, Rishab Shetty who both directed and starred in the project that he did not feel Kantara was a small-budget film and that its budget is massive compared to his last movie.

    'My last film was just 10 percent of Kantara’s budget. So compared to that, Kantara is definitely a big-budget film for me,’

    Currently, the movie is the second highest-grossing Kannada movie of 2022 as well as the second highest-grossing Kannada movie of all time after Yash starrer KGF: Chapter 2.

    The movie has received praise from celebrities like Kamal Haasan, Hrtish Roshan, Prithviraj, SS Rajamouli, Kangana Ranaut, and more especially for its story begin rooted in the culture of Karnataka.

    While there are rumors of a sequel floating around, director Rishab Shetty did reveal in a recent interview that there are no plans for a sequel, at least not yet.

    There is plenty of potential for a sequel considering how the movie ended but nonetheless, it will be interesting to see what the storyline will be in a potential sequel.

    The cast of the movie includes Rishab Shetty, Kishore, Achyuth Kumar, Pramod Shetty, Sapthami Gowda, Prakash Thuminad, and Naveen D Padil. The movie has been dubbed in Tamil, Telegu, Malayalam, and Hindi.

    Kantara is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video and Netflix.
