Kareena Kapoor calls Forrest Gump elitist and classist; explains why people would want to watch Laal Singh Chaddha

After two long years, one of Bollywood’s most favorite actresses Kareena Kapoor Khan is all set to return to our silver screens. She will be reuniting with Mr Perfectionist Aamir Khan in Laal Singh Chaddha , which is the Hindi remake of 1994 American film Forrest Gump . While Aamir will be seen in the titular role, Bebo is portraying the character of Rupa Kaur, the love of his life. Their 3 Idiots co-star Mona Singh, on the other hand, is playing the role of Laal’s on-screen mother.

In a recent chat with New18, Bebo was asked if she apprehensive about Laal Singh Chaddha because it’s a remake. The actress replied ‘no’ and stated that their film is an original adaptation in a different language. Kareena explained that our language, emotions and sentiments are very different from theirs, so she is sure the audience would enjoy it. She went on to add, “But there are still a lot of people who haven't seen Forrest Gump because the masses would not have seen Forrest Gump. It's an elitist kind of classist film, you know.”

Kareena further explained, “I mean it’s a film that.. the mass people. So I mean they haven't seen. So they'll see for the story. They're not going to see it because it's the remake of Forrest Gump. And I mean of course Aamir has made it for that. But it's also a story that people would like to see.”

Laal Singh Chaddha will arrive in theatres on 11th August. We are sure it will be compared to the original, but we are also hoping that it exceeds all expectations!
