‘Luv Ranjan didn’t have an option’: Ranbir Kapoor reveals why he was the only choice for Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar

In his acting career which spans over 16 long years, Ranbir Kapoor has played many roles on the silver screen. But if there is one genre that has truly been rewarding for the Bollywood heartthrob, it is romantic comedy. May it be Bachna Ae Haseeno, Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani or Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Ranbir has managed to win hearts every single time. So when it was announced that the actor is making a comeback to rom coms with ace filmmaker Luv Ranjan , who has also earned success in this genre in the past, fans were ecstatic.

Ranbir and Luv’s first collaboration Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar arrived in theatres today. The actor’s refreshing chemistry with lead star Shraddha Kapoor has left fans wanting more whereas his comic timing is being lauded by all. Ranbir has wonderfully breathed life into his character Mickey aka Rohan Arora, who is a break up artist. Well, in a chat with Bollywood Life, the actor revealed that he said yes to this project because it’s a family film and is very rooted. But was he the first option for Mickey? Ranbir has given an interesting answer to this question as well.

He was quoted saying, “I was his only choice because I offered the film, I offered myself to him. I said ‘Bhai, mere saath film bana’. So I was his only choice, he didn't have an option.” Well, it has been a while since we saw Ranbir in a romantic comedy. We sure are glad that things worked out so well between him and Luv. Up next, Ranbir will be experimenting with yet another exciting genre. He will be sharing the screen with National crush Rashmika Mandanna and evergreen superstar Anil Kapoor in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal, which is a gangster drama. We wish Ranbir only the best!
