Luv Ranjan has finally revealed why he wasn’t able to bring Ajay Devgn and Ranbir Kapoor to share the big screen together as he had originally planned to do before making Tu Jhooti Main Makkaar. While Luv Ranjan’s highly anticipated Holi release brings Ranbir back in the romantic-comedy genre, the film with Ajay which was in discussion around 2018 was supposed to be a an action drama.

The filmmaker’s action drama if made would have been the first time Ranbir and Ajay collaborated on a project after working together in Rajneeti in 2010. However, Luv Ranjan has now revealed that he had to scrap the two hero action drama due to date issues. The director then signed Ranbir for Tu Jhooti Main Makkaar and the rest as they say is history.

Talking to Pinkvilla, Luv Ranjan explained that he wanted to make a action drama with Ranbir because the actor hadn’t something like that. He further added that he wanted to make a Salim Javed kind dialogue drama but the project failed to take off. However, the movie with Ajay wasn’t the only project the filmmaker had discussed with Ranbir and when he asked the actor if he’d do a romantic-comedy like Tu Jhooti Main Makkaar with him, the actor agreed.

The Ranbir and Shraddha Kapoor starrer film has intrigued the fans with its trailer that promises to be a fun ride. Advance booking trends suggest that Tu Jhooti Main Makkaar would be off to a decent start at the box office as it looks forward to an extended weekend after opening in cinemas on Wednesday.

Tu Jhooti Main Makkaar marks Ranbir and Shraddha’s first on-screen collaboration and also marks the acting debuts of comedian Anubhav Singh Bassi and producer Boney Kapoor. The cast also includes veteran actress Dimple Kapadia. The movie also marks Luv Ranjan’s first project which doesn’t have Kartik Aaryan in the lead.
