Manamey box office collection day 1: Did mixed reviews for Sharwanand and Krithi Shetty's romantic comedy affect its opening?

Sharwanand and Krithi Shetty’s latest film, Manamey, which was released on June 7, 2024, has been running successfully in theaters. Despite receiving underwhelming reviews from critics and first-day-first-show (FDFS) attendees, the film has managed to attract family audiences. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Manamey opened decently in the Telugu regions. The Sharwanand-starrer earned approximately Rs 2 crore on its opening day across all states in India. Reports indicate that the film enjoyed an average Telugu occupancy of 27.34%. Released alongside Navdeep’s Love Mouli and Kajal Aggarwal’s Satyabhama, Manamey managed to attract more audiences thanks to its vibrant lead cast and eye-catching color grading. Despite mixed reviews, the film is expected to perform better at the box office over the weekend.

Audience reviews of Manamey

Most FDFS attendees described Manamey as a ‘decent watch’; however, they criticized the filmmakers for dragging the film. Some fans praised the film’s visual grading and applauded cinematographer Vishnu Sharma for showcasing picturesque aesthetics reminiscent of a French film. The light-hearted genre and fun performances have particularly impressed family audiences.

While Krithi plays a disciplined character, Sharwanand on the other hand portrays a carefree man. Their lives take a turn when a young child (played by Vikram Adittya, the director’s son) enters their lives. The film is set against the backdrop of London, UK. Besides the lead cast, the supporting cast includes Seerat Kapoor, Ayesha Khan, Vennela Kishore, Rahul Ramakrishna, and Rahul Ravindran.
