Not Tejasswi Prakash, but Ananya Panday will be Ayushmann Khurrana's Dream Girl in the sequel

    Earlier, when the makers announced the sequel of Dream Girl, they were looking for a feisty, young star to pair opposite Ayushmann. There were rumours suggesting that Naagin 6 actress Tejasswi Prakash will be making her Bollywood debut with the movie.

    After the massive success of Ayushmann Khurrana ’s 2019 film, Dream Girl, the makers have decided to go ahead with its sequel. While Ayushmann will lead the upcoming film as well, Ananya Panday is roped in as the female lead for the second instalment. Directed by Raaj Shandilya, the film will go on floors later this year.

    Earlier, when the makers announced the sequel of Dream Girl, they were looking for a feisty, young star to pair opposite Ayushmann. There were rumours suggesting that Naagin 6 actress Tejasswi Prakash will be making her Bollywood debut with the movie. But later, it was reported that she will not be part of it due to undisclosed reasons. Even a few reports threw up the name of actress Sara Ali Khan to be in the running for the female lead opposite Ayushmann. 

    As per Pinkvilla reports, Ananya has finally bagged the project. "The makers were in talks with Ananya Panday for Dream Girl 2. And as per our sources, makers of the film have zeroed down Ananya Panday opposite Ayushmann Khurrana." a source close to the development told the news portal. However, there is no official confirmation made on the same, even Ananya’s team has not responded to the news as yet. Well, if reports are to be believed, the sequel will mark Ayushmann and Ananya’s first collaboration.

    Talking about Dream Girl, the movie revolved around a man whose female voice impersonation begets attention from others. While Ayushmann headlined the movie, Nushrrat Bharuccha played his leading lady in the comedy drama. It also starrer Annu Kapoor, Vijay Raaz, Abhishek Banerjee, and Nidhi Bisht in pivotal roles. Backed by Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Motion Pictures, the film emerged to be one of the highest grosser of 2019, earning Rs 200 crore worldwide.
