Noted Malayalam lyricist and poet Beeyar Prasad dies at 62

    He began his career with the 2003 Priyadarshan movie Kilichundan Mampazham.

    Beeyar Prasad began his career in Malayalam cinema in 1993 as a scriptwriter for the movie Johny, which won Kerala State Film Award for Best Children's Film.

    He passed away today at Changanassery at the age of 62. Beeyar Prasad had been in critical condition following a brain hemorrhage and was seeking treatment in Trivandrum since November. He also had a kidney transplant in 2020.

    He began his career as a lyricist with the 2003 Priyadarshan comedy movie Kilichundan Mampazham. which starred Mohanlal and Soundarya in the lead.

    The music for the movie was composed by Vidyasagar, the movie and its songs were a massive success and catapulted Beeyar Prasad's career.

    We would go on to compose over 60 songs across 27 movies, some of the most notable works include writing lyrics for movies like Vettam, Seetha Kalyanam, Thalsamayam Oru Penkutti, Lanka, and Swarnnam.

    The last movie he wrote lyrics for was the 2018 rimactic comedy Thattumpurath Achuthan, which was directed by Lal Jose and starred Kunchacko Boban in the lead.

    He also has a small acting career which started in 2001, in the movie Theerthadanam in which he shared the screen with Jayaram and Suhasini.

    Beeyar Prasad was born in the village of Mankombu of Kuttanadu in Kerala, and in a career spanning nearly two decades, he has written some truly memorable songs, the most notable being the song Keranirakaladum Oru Harithacharutheeram for the movie Jalolsavam.

    He is survived by his wife Vidhu and their two children.
