R Madhavan feels remaking Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein is foolishness; says ‘I wouldn’t want to touch that’

There are some films which instantly become a hit while many others take time in connecting with the audience but over the years emerge as a cult classic. R Madhavan , Dia Mirza and Saif Ali Khan starrer Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein falls in the second category. It is an iconic romantic drama which gave us many soulful tracks as well as incredible performances to swoon over. Well, in the last few years, many reports have done the rounds suggesting that a remake of the Gautham Vasudev Menon directorial is in the works.

R Madhavan wants to see Kartik Aaryan as Maddy and Alia Bhatt as Reena in Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein remake 

The OG Maddy aka Madhavan has now broken his silence over these rumors. In a chat with Pinkvilla, he wished the people who are remaking his film all the best. But sharing his opinion, he stated, “I think it’s foolishness, and that’s my opinion. I wouldn’t want to touch that. I wouldn’t do it as a producer. I wish them all the very best from the bottom of my heart, I do. And I hope they surprise, because nothing in the industry can actually be predicted but it has a lot of memories attached to it for a lot of people.”

Madhavan went on to explain that the film is more than a movie for the audience. It’s like an ‘anthem’. He was quoted saying, “It’s like almost saying that 15 years from now you want to remake 3 Idiots. I don’t think it's a sensible… let me just put it again - I think it's a brave decision.” But if the film is remade, he feels the perfect star cast would be Alia Bhatt and Kartik Aaryan as Reena and Maddy.

Wouldn’t it be great if Dia, Madhavan and Saif agreed to step back into the shoes of their characters for the remake? Just imagine!
