Ranbir Kapoor feels THIS could be the reason behind Shamshera’s failure
Fans were eagerly waiting for Ranbir Kapoor to return to the movies but when he finally did 4 years later with Shamshera the audience was not pleased.
After a long wait of four long years, Bollywood heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor made his much anticipated comeback to the silver screen in July with Shamshera . Also starring Vaani Kapoor as a dancer and Sanjay Dutt as the evil antagonist, the period action drama was helmed by Karan Malhotra, who directed Ranbir’s late father Rishi Kapoor in Agneepath. Fans were super excited to see him shine on the big screen again after Sanju. But sadly Shamshera bombed at the box office and didn’t exactly receive glowing reviews either.
Well, today at a press conference for Brahmastra, Ranbir finally opened up about the same. When asked to comment on cancel culture, he shared, “I'll give my own example because I will not speak about other films. I had a film release few weeks back, called Shamshera. I didn't feel any negativity. If the film didn't run at the box office it's probably because the audience didn't like the film. Eventually it is about the content. Agar aap achhi film do, achha content do, people feel entertained.”
He went on to explain, “Of course who doesn't want to go to the movies, to the cinema, experience it, experience a different emotion, get moved by characters, feel an emotion, get entertained, have a great laugh, cry, feel something. We all want to feel that. So, it is only for that. Agar film nahi chalti it's not because of any other reason. It has not worked because the content is not good. And that's simply put, that's the true answer.”
Ranbir, along with his wife Alia Bhatt and director Ayan Mukerji, is now gearing up for the release of Brahmāstra: Part One – Shiva, which is the first in a planned trilogy. Fans have very high expectations from this fantasy adventure film and are hoping the actor is able to redeem himself with it.
