Ranbir Kapoor hopes father Rishi Kapoor is proud of him; ‘sad that he’s not going to see Shamshera’

    4 long years after his last release Sanju, actor Ranbir Kapoor is ready to make his big comeback to the silver screen with Shamshera. He is excited about returning to films but wishes his father Rishi Kapoor was here today.

    Bollywood heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor has been away from the big screen since the last 4 years. He was last seen in Sanju where he portrayed the role of actor Sanjay Dutt and won our hearts with his versatility. Well, he is now all set to make his big comeback with Shamshera and fans could not have been happier! Also starring Sanju baba and actress Vaani Kapoor in pivotal roles, the period action film reportedly follows the story of a warrior who went from becoming a slave to a leader and then a legend.

    While Ranbir is excited about returning to the silver screen and to find out what fans think of his new film, he wishes his father Rishi Kapoor was alive today to see Shamshera. In a chat with ETimes, the actor shared, “He has always been blatantly honest about his criticism if he has liked something or not liked something, especially with my work. So, it’s sad that he’s not going to see it. But I am really excited that I got to do a film like this and I hope that somewhere up there he is looking out for me and he is proud of me.”

    Ranbir went on to share that he wants to grow as an actor, as a star, and feels that this YRF film is a step towards the same. He explained, “You want to make films for a larger audience. You want to tell stories that different generations of audience can connect to and can get entertained.”

    Well, Shamshera is all set to arrive in theatres on 22nd July. Post this Karan Malhotra directorial, Ranbir will be seen in Brahmastra . Helmed by Ayan Mukerji , the fantasy adventure film also stars his wife Alia Bhatt , megastar Amitabh Bachchan , Mouni Roy and South superstar Nagarjuna Akkineni in pivotal roles.
