Ranbir Kapoor on Brahmāstra: ‘We were just three best friends, Alia and I, sitting and dreaming this film with Ayan’

Bollywood heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor has been in the news for various reasons, but he has been away from the silver screen for far too long. Fans are now eagerly waiting to see him back in theatres. Well, much to our delight he is all set to make his comeback after four long years with back to back releases-- Shamshera and Brahmāstra . The latter, helmed by Ayan Mukerji , is one of the most awaited projects of the year as it marks Ranbir’s first film with his actress wife Alia Bhatt .

In a recent chat with Variety, the actor opened up about the film, which is the first in a planned trilogy. Ranbir was quoted saying, “It’s deep rooted in Indian culture, and we had the opportunity to create our own Marvel , which Ayan is trying to do with his Astraverse.” He explained that any compelling story made in your culture in an authentic way will connect to a large audience. While Ranbir is playing the role of Shiva, Alia will be seen as Isha, the girl he’s in love with.

Talking about how the film happened, he revealed, “We were just three best friends, Alia and I, sitting and dreaming this film with Ayan, and being soldiers to him.” Ranbir added that they were really excited and feel privileged to be a part of Brahmāstra. In fact, selfishly as an actor, he would do it over and over again.

Also featuring megastar Amitabh Bachchan , television’s Naagin Mouni Roy , Nagarjuna Akkineni and Dimple Kapadia, Brahmāstra Part One: Shiva will arrive on the big screen on 9th September. The teaser of the first song titled Kesariya and the gripping promos have already left us with high expectations! Can’t wait.
