The security of Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has been beefed up by Mumbai police after analyzing the threat levels ever since notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi was named as the prime suspect in the Punjabi singer-politician Sidhu Moose Wala ’s murder.

Bishnoi had reportedly threatened to kill Khan ever since the latter was accused of hunting blackbuck. Blackbucks are considered sacred creatures by the Bishnoi community. In 2008, outside a court, Bishnoi had said that they will kill Salman Khan in Jodhpur. “Everyone will know once we take action. I have not done anything as of now, they are accusing me of crimes for no reason.," he had also said. His friend Sampat Nehra also did a recce of Khan’s house, and all the planning was done. Now, after Bishnoi’s involvement in Moose Wala’s murder, Mumbai police has tightened the security of Khan. "We have enhanced the overall security of Salman Khan. Police will be present around his apartment to make sure no nefarious activity is done by the gang from Rajasthan, "a senior police officer told Hindustan Times.

Khan’s blackbuck case involves the alleged killing of a deer when he and his co-stars Saif Ali Khan , Sonali Bendre, Neelam, and Tabu were shooting for the movie Hum Saath Saath Hain in the forests near Jodhpur in 1998. The Jodhpur court has convicted Khan in the blackbuck poaching case and sentenced him to five years imprisonment while acquitting his co-stars in 2018. Khan has been released on bail, pending an appeal.

Meanwhile, Moose Wala was shot dead on Sunday evening while driving his car in Mansa, a district in Punjab state, northern India. Moose Wala, 28, was taken to hospital where he was declared dead. Hours after his murder, the police suggested that Bishnoi’s gang might be involved. Even though Bishnoi is presently jailed in Tihar, his involvement is being investigated by Punjab Police.
