Samrat Prithviraj box office Day 7: Akshay Kumar starrer sees further drop, mints Rs 55 crore in its first week
Bankrolled by Yash Raj Films, Samrat Prithviraj was released on June 3 clashing with Kamal Haasan’s Vikram and Adivi Sesh’s Major.
Directed by Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi, the film opened to a low start collecting Rs 10.70 crore. However, it fared well over the weekend grossing Rs 12.60 crore on Saturday and Rs 16.10 crore on Sunday. After a low opening collection of Rs 39 crore, the film’s business dropped miserably over weekdays. First Monday saw a sharp decline grossing Rs 5 cr, the collection deteriorated further to Rs 4.25 crore on Tuesday and Rs 3.60 crore on Wednesday.

As per early estimates, the Thursday figure for the period drama was around 2.70-3.20 crores. The first week's total collection of the film now stands at Rs 55.25 crore approximately. The overseas numbers are also reported to be poor despite the hype around the movie. The film is expected to struggle further as Jurassic World: Dominion is slated released on a blistering note on Friday.
Samrat Prithviraj depicts the story of brave king Prithviraj Chauhan who fought against the merciless invader Muhammad of Ghor to protect India’s freedom. While Kamal Haasan’s action thriller has already been declared a blockbuster grossing over Rs 200 crore worldwide. Adivi Sesh-led Major has fared well at the box office. On the other hand, Kartik Aaryan ’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 continues its dream run in its third week of release, grossing Rs 200 crore worldwide.
