Ranbir Kapoor ’s much-awaited dacoit drama Shamshera had high expectations banking on it, considering to be the actor’s comeback to showbiz after a 4-year long sabbatical. However, it seems luck has not played its charm for RK as the movie has opened to disappointing box office collections. This might also spell bad news for his other upcoming ambitious project, Brahmastra .

Talking about the early estimates of Shamshera’s box office reports, according to Box Office India, the movie has managed to earn only Rs 10 crore on its first day of release. This sounds like a disaster, considering that the period actioner is made with a budget of Rs 150 crore reportedly. This is also history repeating itself since Yash Raj Films ’ another ambitious big-budget film Samrat Prithviraj had opened for just Rs 10.07 crore, given its budget of Rs 175 crore.

The report furthermore stated that Shamshera has particularly performed poorly in Mumbai despite playing in over 4000 theatres around the city. This only means that the occupancy for the Ranbir Kapoor starrer was extremely low on its first day. The movie has been garnering mixed reviews amidst this but the performance by Ranbir has been receiving much appreciation.

Well, this surely makes us worry about Ranbir Kapoor’s other big-budget film Shamshera which is soon arriving in September. The fantasy-action film is mounted on a scale of Rs 300 crore and it will be quite bad news if it meets the same fate as Shamshera. Talking about the film, it also stars Sanjay Dutt and Vaani Kapoor in the lead roles. The movie has been helmed by Karan Malhotra .

Desimartini’s review for Shamshera read, “Shamshera is on point when it comes to cinematography and action as well. And don’t even get me started on the camera angles, which does justice to the film’s grand scale. The train scene is one which has been shot beautifully, in such a way that you won't be able to look away from the screen for even a second. Kudos to the team for pulling it off! Is it logical and will everybody love it? Maybe not. But it is a cinematic experience which should not be missed because this is story-telling at its best.”
