Sukhee 2: A sequel to Shilpa Shetty Kundra starrer is in works, shoot to begin in 2024

After witnessing tremendous success on Netflix, the makers of Sukhee have decided to work on its sequel. As per reports, the second instalment will again see Shilpa Shetty Kundra taking up the lead role while retaining a few cast members from the original film. The family drama was released in theatres on September 22 this year.

Sukhee largely received a positive response on the OTT platform, where it reportedly trended at number 5 in the Global Top 10 (Non-English) films. It also stood at the No. 1 position in India and featured among the top 10 films in 13 countries on the OTT platform. Following this, director Sonal Joshi along with the producers have planned a sequel. The makers are looking forward to Summer 2024 to start the shoot.

“The director and writers have begun ideating for the second installment, which will feature many actors from the first part, and a couple of new actors as well. The makers are also planning to pull off a casting coup with part 2. Once the scripting is locked, Sonal will begin with the casting process,” told a source close to Pinkvilla.

Sukhee revolves around a Punjabi housewife, who is fed up with her mundane existence and gets to relive the past while attending a school reunion. Besides Shilpa, the film also has Kusha Kapila, Amit Sadh and Chaitanya Choudry in pivotal roles. The DesiMartini review of the film read, “Sukhee is not a ground-breaking story but its treatment and approach make it a feel-good movie. It is the perfect watch for those housewives who are looking forward to having a movie night with their girlfriends.” Meanwhile, Shilpa will next be seen in Rohit Shetty’s cop series Indian Police Force. The series also has Sidharth Malhotra and Vivek Oberoi in pivotal roles.
