Yesterday (September 22) saw the release of two movies namely Shilpa Shetty starrer Sukhee and Vicky Kaushal’s The Great Indian Family. However, after Bollywood witnessed a string of hits in the past few weeks, these two movies heavily underperformed on their first day. Presumably, the ongoing festive fervor of Ganesh Chaturthi also affected the box-office collections of these two movies.

Talking about the same, Shilpa Shetty’s Sukhee saw extremely depressing numbers on its first day. The Sonal Joshi directorial did not even mint a crore. According to a news report in Times Now, the movie only managed to earn Rs 0.30 crore on its opening day. By the looks of it, the movie might manage to earn even Rs 1 crore in the coming days.

On the other hand, the Vicky Kaushal starrer The Great Indian Family fared slightly better than Shilpa Shetty’s Sukhee but still did not witness great numbers. According to a news report in India Today, it only earned Rs 1.40 crore at the box office. The movie has a total occupancy range of 10.09%. It might struggle to see an improvement in the collections unless it goes on to receive good word-of-mouth.

Both the movies have reportedly also suffered because of Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan still creating a rage at the box office. Talking about Sukhee, the slice-of-life movie also stars Amit Sadh, Kusha Kapila, Dilnaz Irani, and Kiran Kumar in pivotal roles. It revolves around the life of a free-spirited housewife named Sukhpreet Kalra. The Great Indian Family also features Manushi Chillar, Kumud Mishra, and Manoj Pahwa in the lead roles. Vicky Kaushal essays the role of Bhajan Kumar, a man who suddenly discovers a revelation that threatens his entire identity. It will be interesting to wait and watch how these films fare in the coming days.
