After the Dhaakad debacle, Kangana Ranaut might have to face another box office setback with Tejas. As per early estimates, the upcoming aviation drama has sold less than 5,000 tickets in advance booking recorded last night. Also, the early prediction indicated low opening at the box office.

As per industry tracker Sacnilk, the film is expected to earn around Rs 0.50 crore India net on its first day. The Even Bollywood Hungama report suggested that the opening likely be in the range of Rs 1.25 to 1.50 crores. The report also added that the final advance in the three national multiplex chains is expected to be in the range of 6,000 to 7,000 tickets.

Reportedly, Tejas has been made on the budget between Rs 30 and Rs 40 crore. The dull advance booking does spell trouble for a film of this scale and budget. The film could see a rise in collection only with the positive word of mouth as per reports. The dull response may seal the film’s fate and will turn out to be a major loss for producers. Earlier, Kangana’s Dhaakad had also witnessed low opening with Rs 50 lakhs and collected around Rs 2.58 crore. Made on an estimated budget of Rs 85 crore, the film incurred Rs 78 crore loss to producers.

Tejas is based on The Indian Air Force (IAF), the First Indian defense force to induct women into combat roles. The film revolves around a fearless female fighter pilot played by Kangana Ranaut. The film features a dialogue inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.Directed and written by Sarvesh Mewara, the film also stars Varun Mitra, Ashish Vidyarthi, Veena Nair and Anshul Chauhan in key roles. Pproduced by Ronnie Screwvala under the banner of RSVP Movies, the film has released cinemas today (October 27, 2023).
