The Kashmir Files off to a promising start at the box office; Radhe Shyam has a dull opening day

Radhe Shyam and The Kashmir Files opened in cinemas on Friday and the first day box office results for both the films are in. While Vivek Agnihotri ’ s film based on the Kashmir Excodus garnered a good response from the audience despite the limited screen count, Prabhas ’ latest pan-Indian release was a flop show.

The Kashmir Files which released in approximately 600 screens managed to rake in Rs. 3.55 crores on the opening day which is an impressive feat. Radhe Shyam, however, had a dull day despite being a highly anticipated mega budget film and earned close to 4.5 crores nett (approx.) in the Hindi circuit. The film does however has better chances of doing well in the Telugu belt where Prabhas is a huge crowd puller. Ticket sales acoording to a Box Office India report, indicate at a decent opening of the film in the Andhra region.

Vivek Agnihotri’s film starring Anupam Kher and Mithun Chakraborty has been largely appreciated for its performances and the evening shows of the film on day 1 saw a great turnout. The film is expected to grow and do better over Saturday and Sunday and is not far from emerging as a hit.

Radhe Shyam’s opening day numbers point at a bleak future for the film box office wise to justify its pan Indian status. Despite starring India’s biggest star Prabhas the film which was expected to be a crowd puller is failing to entice the audience enough. The mostly negative reviews for this romantic period saga don’t add any hope for a better weekend.

The weekend is not over yet and we are still to see where these two films end up by Sunday.
