World Environment Day- Varun Dhawan, Jackie Shroff, Abhishek Bachchan, Sobhita Dhulipala and Malaika Arora join hands for a special video

Like every year, this year too, World Environment Day will be celebrated with great enthusiasm and fervour all across the globe. With a social cause like this, how can Bollywood be far behind! This year’s World Environment Day (June 5) will see the coming together of a bunch of Bollywood stars to do a special song.

As per a report in Mid Day, this year’s World Environment Day will see Abhishek Bachchan leading the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and Bhamla Foundation’s World Environment Day campaign. And the theme of this year’s event has been decided as ‘Bhumi Namaskar’. The report stated that, besides Abhishek Bachchan, the said video will also see stars including Varun Dhawan, Jackie Shroff, Sobhita Dhulipala and Malaika Arora.

Speaking about the video and said initiative, Asif Bhamla said that the two acclaimed lyricists Gulzar and Javed Akhtar were among the first to hear the song and praise it. He added, Bhumi namaskar was about expressing gratitude towards Mother Earth, which the human beings selfishly keep destroying.

And the man behind the camera who will be directing the video is none other than the extremely acclaimed and prolific filmmaker R Balki. The lyrics of the said video has been penned by Prasoon Joshi, composed by Aman Pant and has been sung by Shreya Ghoshal, Sheykhar Ravjiani, and others.

When asked about getting Abhishek Bachchan on board, Asif Bhamla said that he was told by Blaki that getting Abhishek on board wouldn’t be easy because of his shy nature and that he was known to refuse ads worth crores! He added that, when they explained to him (Abhishek Bachchan) that he’d be giving back to Mother Earth through this, he agreed!

Speaking about Abhishek Bachchan, he also spoke about the said music video by saying that he was happy to be a part of the global campaign, in addition to the curator Balki, for whom he has immense respect. Meanwhile, on her part, Malaika Arora said that healthy soil was essential for life on earth and that plants can survive without humans, but humans cannot without plants. And this was the reminder that all of us can make a difference together.
