Deepika Padukone calls up Ranaut to clear the air about a misunderstanding

Deepika Padukone calls up Ranaut to clear the air about a misunderstanding

Earlier this year, when Deepika Padukone picked up a best actress award at an event, she dedicated it to Kangana Ranaut, for her critically acclaimed performance in Queen (2014). Later, Kangana told HT Café that she hoped Deepika would appreciate her work in person someday. A few days back, Kangana reiterated that thought, when she said that the likes of Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Amitabh Bachchan and Priyanka Chopra, have called her to praise her performances, but “Deepika has never called me up directly”.

Nonetheless, she said Deepika is someone she “has the highest regard for”. Kangana’s remark led to misunderstanding between the two. Now, we have found out that, in a bid to clear the air, Deepika has finally called Kangana, who is currently in Manali (Himachal Pradesh), spending time with her parents. It is believed that, among other things, they discussed Kangana’s statement about Deepika not calling her “directly”.

Kangana, who decided last year that she would not attend popular awards events anymore, was happy with Deepika’s kind gesture. “They had a good chat, and she found it commendable that Deepika called her to clear things out,” says the source.

When contacted, Kangana confirmed the news, and said, “Deepika called me, and clarified that she had no personal equation with me to make a direct call (to appreciate her performance in Queen). Also, I explained to her how it would have been unjust for me to publicly acknowledge an award from her when I have decided not to attend any awards functions. It was an emotional and heartfelt conversation. I appreciate that she called me; she is truly courteous and very emotional, and I just love that.”
