Is Romance Dying In Bollywood? Well The Upcoming Bollywood Films Of 2018 Prove So!

Romance has not been the main takeaway in the Bollywood films of 2017. The year largely consisted of different genres of films, but there were quite a few rom-coms. The romances like Bareilly Ki Barfi or Shubh Mangal Saavdhan were referred to more as small budget films that managed to make a very good box office collection. The highest grossing films of the year were action, drama and comedy. There were quite a few women-centric films too, along with some biopics. Yet we cannot overlook romances like Badrinath Ki Dulhania or Jab Harry Met Sejal or even Half Girlfriend for that matter.

Well, the Bollywood films releasing in 2018 reassures that Bollywood is moving away from romances and is trying to explore more diverse genres. Amongst the near 50 films that will release in 2018, there is but a handful of romantic films that will be made, Let us have a look at the romantic films of 2018.

1. Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety

The film, directed by Luv Ranjan, will show the war between romance and bromance. It will bring on-screen the 'takkar' that happens between a best friend and a girlfriend! The film is scheduled for a 9th February release.

2. Daas Dev

Sudhir Mishra will be back in 2018  with Daas Dev. The film is a modern retake on Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay's 'Devdas'. The film has Aditi Rao Hydari and Richa Chadda in the lead and will release in February!

3. Love Per Square Foot

The film will mark the debut of Bang Baaja Baarat girl, Angira Dhar. She will be seen opposite Vicky Kaushal of Masaan fame. The film will be a romantic drama that will release in April

4.  Veere Di Wedding

Kareena Kapoor 's comeback film is listed as a romance, but it will also have a major angle of sisterhood and the sis'mance' that the heroines in the film will share!

5. Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas

This film will mark the debut of Sunny Deol 's son in Bollywood. The film will be a romantic drama, though much is not known about the plot!

6. Ajay Devgn And Tabu 's next

The title of the film has not been announced but according to reports, the two will appear in a romantic film!

So, there are only 6 romantic films that have been scheduled for release so far. We can only hope that more romantic films will come up as the year progresses, because c'mon, Bollywood romances, when done right, are truly magical!
