Supreme Court issued notice to Dimple Kapadia

The Supreme Court on August 7 issued a notice to actress Dimple Kapadia on the petition filed by late Rajesh Khanna’s live-in partner Anita Advani. The petition seeks restoration of her complaint in relation to domestic violence with her by Dimple and others after the death of film star Rajesh Khanna.  Anita had filed a complaint in 2013 before the magistrate under the provisions of Domestic Violence Act against Dimple, Twinkle Khanna, Rinkie and Akshay Kumar.

A Supreme Court bench issued a notice on Anita’s plea challenging a Bombay high court order suppressing her complaint lodged against Kapadia and others. Anita’s counsel C A Sundaram said, "She was not married to late Rajesh Khanna, but she was in a relationship which was of the nature of marriage”. He also said that she was living with Mr. Khanna for 25 long years after his divorce from Kapadia.

The Bombay high court in April quashed the complaint lodged by Anita subjected to her eviction from Rajesh Khanna bunglow ‘Aashirwad’. The High Court said that Anita’s relation with Rajesh Khanna was not of the nature of marriage and she cannot seek relief under the Act. C A Sundaram and Jatin Zaveri, who appeared for Anita, criticized the Bombay High Court order for dismissing her complaint filed against the actors.
